The Predators are pleased to announce that they have dumped about 12 million Dollars in salary as the team was underacheving. The Predators traded away free agent goalie Olaf Kolzig, Chris Drury, prospect Kris Beech and recently accuried superstar Jaromir Jagr for power forward Erik Cole, top prospect Alexander Frolov, goalie Johan Hedberg, Florida's second round pick and Budding superstar Patrick Marleau.
"We are pleased with this deal as we don't give up much for this year but we gain so much more for the future. Frolov is going to be a superstar. No question about it. Erik Cole is a powerforward and we all know the price that it takes to get a power forward when they break out and i belive that Erik is about to break out big time. Kolzig for Hedberg is a wash playing wise but we have him locked up for 5 years and thats a good deal for us. trading away a UFA to be for a goalie thats gonna be with us for a long time. While its extremlly hard to give up a star like Jagr we think we got another superstar in Marleau who is cheaper and possibly just as good."
" I hope that this trade shows everyone that i am very serious and i will make a trade if i feel itwill benefit my team. We are still a playoff contender but now we are a better team for the future."
