Julian Melchiori (5th RD/126th OA) - D 6'-4" 209 lbs -
Currently playing with the Kitchner Rangers in the OHL, Melichiori turned heads at the recent Winnipeg Jets main preseason camp. Despite only having one season of Major Junior experience under his belt, Melichiori displays a calm demeanor under pressure making smart passes and good decisions along with typical mistakes young, inexperienced D make. This late bloomer shows the potential to be a solid two-way player but he will continue to need seasoning to develop completely.
Alex Theriau (6th RD/173 OA) - D 6'-1" 185 lbs - Third pairing two-way defenseman, like a slightly slower, less talented version of Cam Barker.
Isaac MacLeod (7th RD/202 OA) - D 6'-4" 205 lbs - Another long term project. MacLeod is playing for Boston College via the BCJHL Pentiction Vees. Not likely to see any BRHL action for a few years yet.
Caleb Herbert (7th RD/203 OA) - C 5'-10" 180 lbs - Enticing speed and skill in an undersized package. Will be NCAA bound where hopefully he can hone his offensive game.
Joe Rogalski (7th RD/210 OA) - D 6'-1" 195 lbs - Decent size and a great set of wheels but he has a large development curve ahead of him if he hopes to play in the BRHL.
Overall, the Bruins picked the BPA and, in doing so, replenished a cupboard bare of a lot of quality Defensive prospects. Melchiori could be a sleeper pick for the Bruins if his development continues on its current arc. Given that the Bruins expected to be getting projects with their late round selections, they are happy with their results.
