The team today released their expectations on the upcoming regular season.
Under newly hired coach Paul Maurice, the team is expected to finish with 66 points or more.
66 points is expected to be a highly set goal for the lowly Thrashers, but with the new acquisitions (consisting of Mike Richter, Tony Amonte and Ron Francis), the team is hoping to be able to reach the 65-point plateau.
During the press conference the Thrashers also named Maurice as their new head coach, taking over after Curt Fraser, who has been assigned to the team's minor league affiliate - Frolunda Indians (Negroes, Caucasians, Hispanics, Cowboys, if you dislike the name, make a pick of your own).
Tony Amonte is expected to be one of the team leaders in scoring, while Francis should lead the team in assists.
Mike Richter should be the team's go-to-guy in goal. Dan Blackburn might still need a year or two as a back-up, since the goaltending position is a learning experience.
However, it is rumoured that Blackburn might be available for trade...
