Andrew Brunette is going back to Atlanta. He was rumoured to be on the block in Leafland, and today was sent packing along with Tor 1st, and Edm 4th to Atlanta. Coming back to Toronto are checking winger Jay Pandolfo, prospect Alexander Tatarukin, and the Thrashers 1st rounder.
Pandolfo gives the leafs a 4th 70+ DF forward to throw on the PK and is better suited to the 3rd/4th line role he will receive. Tatarukin is the type of prospect we like to get in a deal like this, a hit or miss guy who could be a very good top 2 line NHLer, or possibly a bust. And the Thrashers 1st rounder should be a top 5-10 pick and with this draft class coming up, the Leafs want to be in prime picking position.

The Atlanta Thrashers feel that our current youth compares well to some of the other youngsters in the league. However, this is not just a matter of being good in years to come. This is a matter of winning right off the bat. To get this team some well-earned respect.
Adding Brunette as our first-line left-winger will go some way to help us achieve this.
On a line with Tony Amonte and Ron Francis, he should be able to get some points for his new club.
Finally, the Atlanta Thrashers have a line worthy to be called a first line, even though it isn't among the top of the class...yet.
