wouldnt these 4oz gloves restrict their ability to "play hockey" ? This guy has been messed up this year by a couple guys. Never saw him as a premier fighter, just someone who went out for 400K a year and got shit kicked. Don't think we'll see him play another NHL game.

Yeah, he made the mistake of fighting a bonafide heavyweight in Boogard.
I don't mind fighting in the game or at least the way fighting used to be. Remember the days when the fighters were also top players too? You know, just tough guys who did it all.
The purebreed "enforcers" or knuckle draggers is what is causing the problem. Derek Boogard, George Parros, Scott Parker, Andre Roy, Brian McGratten... these guys are there for one reason only. And they are so big and so strong that when a smaller "tough guy" like Fedoruk or any other non "heavyweight" stick up for their teammates they get pounded into nothing.
I don't think fighting should be taken out of the game but I do think the NHL teams have to recognize that the pure breed enforcers who only play 1-3 minutes a night need to go.

I dont like them in the NHL, but I dont think you can argue how effective Boogard is for Minnesota. IMO he is the most feared fighter right now, partly because he has no morals. The guy is just a goon pure and simple.

Instead of the 4 oz gloves, they should hit each other with those big foam pugel sticks, like on "American Gladiators".

Fedoruk quote from TSN: "I myself do a lot of training in the off-season that has to do with fighting."
What type of training does he do. Learns how to take a beating ?

LOL . . . Glenn Anderson was such a pu$$y ? Nobody drove to the net as hard in his day, and that is when nets didnt come off, when you drove hard to the net you were driving towards a big honkin piece of steal that wasnt going anywhere. Go run in to a street lamp outside your house at full speed, then come call Anderson a pussy.

Go run in to a street lamp outside your house at full speed, then come call Anderson a pussy. Watch the video again. Anderson feints like he's going to start throwin' them with Gino. Then he backs away behind the referee like the pu$$y he was. I thought he was a pu$$y that night for doing that. I still think he is now. That and wild high stick waving he used to do. It's a wonder he never took someone's eye out. He just nearly decapitated them is all. And don't get me started on the deadbeat dad thing either.

so I guess you didnt go run in to the street lamp? do that and then you can come back and call him that. Id run from Gino Odjick too, that is one ugly mofo, he looks like one of the critters from The Hills Have Eyes.

so I guess you didnt go run in to the street lamp? No I didn't. That would be stupid. If Anderson used to run into fixed metal objects, I guess that he was pretty stupid too. ;D

LMAS that Forsberg on Cloutier is hilarious. Cloutier just dropped like he had been shot, why because of the little tap from Forsberg in the groin, in what would amount to a light tap on the CUP HAHA
That Willie Plett one is one of the worst cheap shots I have seen
The Turgeon one re-enforces my belief that the Hunter hit was the worst ever. I fucking hate that piece of shit. I think it is way worse when the event does not follow an instigating incident. I can see how someone can lose their cool and react stupidly in an instant when they take a stick in the face or a punch, it dont make it right, but its a dumb reaction. Now when it is merely that a player scored, you are the lowest of the low. Dont give me any bullshit about being mad to be scored on and having heart shit, no matter what you are gonna be scored on and lots in your career, suck it up princess you cant go around cheap shotting everyone who scores on you.
The McLaren one I always think is bad. Im not usually one to scream head hunter and think that a lot of times when a guy gets hit in the head it is his own fault or just a good solid hit where the bodies didnt align properly before the two players came together, but that McLaren on Zednek was pure head hunting.
The Liles on Smyth hit is laughable to be included. It didnt result in a serious injury, it wasnt done by a cheap player, it didnt look like he was going after Smyth, but rather he was just reacting and yeah stuck out his knees which was a stupid thing to do, but like I said he was just reacting not going after Smyth. Even the Oilers afterwards said that Liles isnt a dirty player and they didnt think he did it with ill intent. Penalty yes, 1 or 2 games, fine, but among the worst cheap shots ever, LMAO.
Bureau on Svoboda was bad. I really dont have a problem with hits that come just after a guy gets rid of the puck if you were already going to hit him, yeah follow through, but he turned in to Svoboda only after Svoboda passed the puck up ice and then lead with his elbow, it was liek he saw Svoboda was vulberable and said "wow heres my chance" that Cam Jansen hit was very late too, I wouldnt have even commented on that one though if the announcers had not kept trying to justify it and protect Jansens reputation rather than show concern for a knocked out player on the ice, surprise surprise that they are from a city that is just one big Ghetto.
and Ken, as much as I think the Bertuzzi hit was dirty and as much as I dislike the guy, yeah there have been plenty of worse hits.
Tie Domi, wow what a man. Punches Burt when he is firghting someone else and then runs away like a little bitch when Richardson comes in ready to tune him. Tie did love to fight, but he has always been over-rated as a fighter and with the exception of a few years early in his career was never able to go toe to toe with the heavies. When they got bigger, ties ranking fell and fell. Not that Richardson is a big fighter, thats why it makes it a wonder that poor liitte Dumi ran away.

I still don't think the McLaren hit was all that bad. I think it was more of him trying to do anything to let Zednik past him. I don't think he was trying to hurt him. Maybe he was. But if I was in that situation I would've done the same thing to make sure some one wasn't gonna get past going to the net to score late in a playoff game.
