Would that trade be approved in an FHL?

If Kevin reads this thread, then YES. thats a GREAT deal for both teams. very even
If he doesn't read this thread, then NO. that was a horrible trade. I don't know why other GMs haven't tried to strike while the iron is hot and offer a 2nd for Staal.

Well I'm here And, I must say, what a horrible trade for the Hurricanes. What the hell was Rutherford thinking?!?! Maybe I'm smarter than Mr. Rutherford cause I wouldn't even give that offer a second of my time if it were offered to me. By the way, the title of the thread is a little misleading...it's actually Jack Johnson + Oleg Tverdovsky for Tim Gleason + Eric Belanger.

How far out is Johnson? Does he want to complete a degree or just want one more year of schooling?

Gleason has not managed a point in 3 preseason games. I haven't checked his icetime in these games though.

Actually a little premature....Carolina got Belanger too. The monster of NHL pognostication and analysis Pierre MacGuire described Belanger as a poor man's Bob Gainey. He cited that along with Johnson's reluctance to sign on with the Canes that both Gleason and Belanger were attractive becuase of their contractual status (both are signed to decent deals.)

You don't give up a future star d-man this early. Just because he wanted to stay in school another year or 2 he gets traded. Johnson had it right, get an education 1st, then sign a contract and play. At least he will have something to fall back on if he has a career ending injury early in his career.

well if Johnson was still in school for 2 years he would be a rookie at 21 and by that time isnt the schedule that players will be UFA at 26? So they would have him 5 years and then he would be a UFA?
Still Carolina got hosed.
