Is the reason there has been no significant NHL interest strictly because of his first round showing against Edmonton? I don't think so. He doesn't get the credit around the league he deserves. His numbers have been solid this past couple of season when he does play. GMs probably look at his last season numbers (which were superb) and think that it was more a reflection of the Red Wings defense and not Legace's ability. Last season was his first to crack the 50 game barrier and he struggled at the start with his health (knee sprains). Personally, I would rather see Legace with a Leaf on his chest over Raycroft. link to story: www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20060707.wlegace/BNStory/Sports/home

I agree that Legace is being VASTLY overlooked (Gerber to Ottawa? Raycroft to Toronto, Cloutier to LA). I'd rather have Legace over any of those guys. Fortunately I don't have to worry with Luongo here. Admittedly I don't like seeing Raycroft in Toronto, I think Patrick Lalime is more fitting or perhaps Kevin Weekes.

So who else needs a goalie? Assuming that Eddie signs in Detroit, that leaves Legace and Hasek on the market and Biron & Nabokov wanting a trade. But what teams out there need a goalie? Would Legace sign in Carolina to backup Ward? Every other team appears to have its goaltending pretty much settled. Could one of them show up in Atlanta in case Lethonen gets hurt again?

Toronto will need help.... Raycroft sucks. Florida could use a backup....
Hmm, maybe the NHL should expand again!

Florida, maybe Minnesota, Columbus, St. Louis would all be good places for Legace.
Or... maybe I'll get lucky and Thibault will retire. Not that I'm saying the Penguins should go after Legace, just saying maybe I'll get lucky.

Don't shit on Raycroft just yet. Personally I think he'll be terrific!

I think Toronto did what was necessary. Justin Pogge had an incredible year, and it left the Leafs with two top goaltending prospects. Sadly Tuukka Rask became expendable...maybe the Leafs could have gotten something better than Raycroft...however, he was a previous Calder winner and isn't likely to have this bad a season again. I don't believe Tellqvist was the answer although he did show that he could be. I think it's going to be a tandem unless one can prove himself to be more than that.

Yeah, but Carey was a Vezina winner . (Semantics I know). However, cost effectiveness is the order of the Leafs at the moment (since they are using a huge amount of their cap space on 4 defencemen).
