Man I'd hate to be a Isles fan.
The New York Islanders traded second-leading goal scorer Mark Parrish and defenseman Brent Sopel to the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night for two prospects. Defenseman Denis Grebeshkov and left winger Jeff Tambellini, both former first-round picks are headed to Long Island.

well Id say that MM royally raped the Kings. I think there is also a conditional pick going to the Island. Sopel is overpaid and over-rated. Parrish was done as an Isle by all accounts. The Kings surely got better today but that was a steep price. People who think the Oilers gave up too much, need only to look at LA to see a team that really over-paid.
As an Oiler fan that would be Pouliot and Greene + and I couldnt see that happening. Parrish is a solid 2nd line RW but in the new cap world having a stream of young players is important and young prospects that are close are worth a hell of a lot more the the hit and miss DPs IMO.

BTW who wouldnt have to be an Isles fan.
A team that could have had the most spectacular young core in the league in Jokinen, Luongo, Heatly, Chara, Spezza, Brewer, Torres, etc. instead has or had Kvasha, Parrish, Dipietro, and Yashin, Hamrlik and Niinimaa (though I love the guy, his knees seemed to have killed his affectiveness).

Didn't Niinima get dealt to Dallas? And subsequently scratched?

that is why I said has or had. Hammer is also no longer an Isle. I was just outlining the team that they could have had and the team that they subsequently got out of it.
