On a positive note . . . Andrew Ladd should get some quality minutes down the stretch. The Bruins' scouts will be watching him with keen interest.

Call me a homer, and Im sure you will. but I don't think the hit was that viscious. I think the suspension is warranted, but I don't think that Orpik was trying to send him head first into the boards. He did hit him from behind, which is very illegal, but I think that Cole's skates caught a rut, and that affected his fall. Tough Break for Cole (no pun intended), wouldn't have minded seeing him and his canes go deep.

Regardless of whether it was malicious or not, Orpik's hit likely cost me 4 or 5 SC points!

he has played more than enough games to justify pro-rating his stats for 82 games.

That's a relief I guess. Will he be without a DU penalty though?

no he DU will be affected. That is why I have always argued for pro-rated PA, and SC ratings. A guy will get a reduced DU when he is out with injury, not pro-rating his stats would be a double hit as he would get a lower du and lower offensive ratings in which case he would be more likley to miss games due to injury and would also be less effective in the games that he did play. As far as I know the stats will still be pro-rated, I have not seen anything saying otherwise. But yeah, DU will probably be reduced quite a bit. Same thing will happen with Nagy on my team, Lemiuex even more.

That is what makes it kind of frustrating then. He has a long term injury that was the result of a careless act of another player if not a flagrant foul. It's not like Cole was prone to getting smashed head first into the boards and should be penalized accordingly.
Oh well . . . I'm not the one who should worry. As long as Cole gets healthy and can play again, that's all that really matters.

Hey, Brooks Orpik has been fustrating and disapointing to watch all season. This has been the highlight of the year for him. The Defender was in front of him, and not blowing past forcing a holding penalty, this is a vast improvement over the begining of the year.
