Can anyone else recall a NHL game ever being cancelled for an Injury?
Im not saying they did the wrong thing, I just can't ever remember it happening before.

not to my knowledge, that was pretty freaky watching that. Here's hoping he's OK and can come back to the NHL soon.

Did Buffalo finish out that game with Clint Malarchuk? I think it was warranted to call the game when a teammate is almost dead on the bench and is receiving life saving CPR along with an AED shock.

Sounds like he had an arrhythmia....i bet they drop a defibrillator into his chest...don't know about playing again though....think he might be able to. jh

Fischer is done for this season. I'd say it's a career. The Red Wings will never clear him to play, and I can't see any other NHL team allowing a person to risk their own life like that. I mean a solid hit could dislodge or destroy an internal defibrillator.
The game in which Clint Malarchuk's throat got cut was completed on the same day.

they were talking to Scotty Bowman while the leafs were losing to Tbay this evening on TSN. He said things were not good there. As of yet (and this might interest you Jordan) they have not been able to diagnose Fischer's condition . . . .
Bowman said he has had similar 'occurances' but none as bad as the bench incident - he mentioned something about an 'electrical problem' (I imagine he's referring to the heart)

He will have some sort of reentrant cardiac rhythm that will fuck up some time and actually short circuit the heart. Essentially stopping the heart. He will likely have to have electrophysiological mapping of the heart to fine out where the "short circuit" is. When they do, they can then ablate the circuit and insert a defibrillator so if it happens again, it will shock the heart when it does not pace itself properly. Likelihood of playing this year. Nil i would suspect. Long term. I am not too sure. I doubt his doctors would be too keen on him participating in contact sports...
