Did anyone else see Sebastian caron's save against the Phlyers in the Penguins' latest overtime loss? It is an early favorite to be the best of the year, and the best save i've seen since Frank Peterangelo's "the save" vs. the devils.
The Puck pinged off of Caron's far goal post, trickled behind his legs (he narrowly missed kicking it in), about a foot out of the crease and Caron reached back with his glove from in the front of the crease to the goal line to make the stop in front of a wide open net
. It's worth staying up for sportscenter, or downloading a plays of the week package.

when I watched the highlights I wasnt so sure that it was a save actually. To me it is gonna be up there with Salo on Kariya in the 92 Olympics. Granted I was half pissed when I saw it (about 20 minutes ago) but still., wasnt clearly a save to me.

Jesus... Tonight, Fleury make a save almost as impressive in yet another futle penguins effort. With about a minute left in the game and down by two, he heads for the bench, but halfway there the lightning get the puck and shoot it towards the net. Fleury makes a full soccer style dive across the ice to catch the puck in mid air. The highpoint in another penguins loss. Another Sportscenter top ten.

Kipper also made a spectacular save tonight (he was the difference in a game that the Oil controlled for 2 periods). Hemsky had a whole net to shoot out from the left side and Kipper was on the right as he had been facing a shot from the right side. Hemsky shoots what should have been a sure goal and Kipper turns around and swats his stick towards the 90% open net and saves the Hemsky shot. It was incredible and kind of summed up what he did to the Oilers today.
Damn, of all the trades I wish I could take back, dealing Kipper for a 3rd back when he was the 3rd string guy in SJ. Used that pick to draft Toskala which seemed smooth at the time, you know dealing a guy for a pick in a case where the pick was used to grab a guy who he had succeeded in net. It can all work out though still if San Jose will just deal one of their goalies already. Toskala is far too good to be a back up and he is getting older so either they need to deal him or play him. I know each organisation does what it best for them and they dont want to deal a guy who could come back to bite them (again) but i honestly think they are ruining or at least stalling what could be a really good goalies career.

Kind of how Buffalo is killing the career of Noronen.

WAs it Prusek who made that big save last night vs the wild? Diving across the net and in mid air deflecting the shot with the blade of the goalie stick. I don't know why they never kept him around in Ottawa.
