This is insane, its like a frickin fantasy league rigth now with big names going everywhere...In my opinion, this is exactly what the league needed to rebuild its image, us diehards are glued to tsn, and espn looking for updates, even casual fans are getting exposed to hockey information in the summer.
This is the type of action the league needed to create interest in every city to get the NHL back..... Already over half the teams in teh league have made huge moves that are creating a buzz in each city.
How could anyone accurately predict right now who will even make the playoffs? Would it shock you if Detroit missed the playoffs this season? How about if Pittsbuirgh or Chicago, or even COlumbus made the playoffs?
With so many moves still to come, the new NHL has created a huge stir in its markets, which is great marketing in itself.
The only sure thing is that the Leafs will choke, and Cloutier will gas it in the playoffs.

And Conklin or Markkannen are any better..... Bahahahahahahahaa ' actually........yes. And Im not the biggest Conks or Markanen fan though I like them both I dont have confidence in them being our answer (I pray every night that Edmonton gets on the phone to SJ to bring Toskala here to start, once that guy gets a chance its all gravey for him). Im also not the biggest Canuck hater, I actually dont hate them at all except for Jovo (Just always bugs me) and Bertuzzi (only since the incident too really). Its just that I think Cloutier is a really bad starter, Salos last 2 years in Edmonton bad. eeeck. BTW I love Cooke and Ohlund, two of my favourite players and I probably over-rate Matthias more than anyone in Western Canada (one of the top 8 Dman IMO).

I think it is awesome. I can't remember the last time I was this interested in an offseason. The lockout sucked but I think the game needed it and the down year was worth it. I mean what more could you want every Canadian team is signing big time free agents and Toronto beginning their two decade long slump all over again. I LOVE IT!!!! Did I mention that we have Kovalev back again!!!! WOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!
VIVA LES HABITONS!!!!!

Now we will have to wait and see if Kovalev was worth the money put out, I think there were other players the Habs should have went for instead.
But Gainey must know something we don't, Look he picked Carey Price over Gilbert Brule. Enough said.

Kovy was not worth that much money. He is streaky at best, and only put up numbers in the Penguins "system" back when it was "we don't need no stinkin system". I am soooo glad the Penguins did not resign him.

His performance in the playoffs certainly makes it seem like he was worth it. I am not sure if Montreal could have lured anyone else into the system. Plus why pass on Kovey when he seemed to fit so well with Koivu and Zednik. I am more then happy with the move. Less happy with the absence of a move to get someone on the blue line. Sure Dandenault is a nice pick-up but we needed a big defensive dman. The dcore is seriously lacking the presence of reliably stay at home dman. Hopefully gainey is not done yet.

PS: I don't want to talk about Price. It is still a sore spot. I won't say it was a bonehead pick. But I don't think it was the best pick he could have made to say the least.
