Why would Brian Burke choose Bobby Ryan over Benoit Pouliot?
Any ideas?

Screw Burke. Who knows the mind of his protege Dave Nonis.. LUC BOURDON!!!!!! He was -39 last year! OVER ... F*CKING OVER Anze Kopitar!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I want a top end offensive guy in our system. Jason King just... doesn't.,,, cut it

I was hesitant about mentioning Anze Kopitar going so late . . but LA got a gem there.
A "-39" Dman is not a good thing at any level.
They should've taken that monster washington picked up - Finley.

There's been some real interesting picks.
Luc Bourdon has been the best so far. Why they didn't take Marc Staal is beyond me. Anze Kopitar won't fall in fantasy drafts that far I would think. And "off the board" has been a definite term this year.

Calgary's pick makes more sense than Bourdon - at least one can understand the motivation Pelech being a Sutter type player

If history repeats itself - then you're cup should be coming in by about 2011 or so. Maybe your loyalties would be better off with the Steelers for the short term . .

no, the pens will win long before the steelers do. The steelers are content with competing every year, but never doing that little extra to become a superbowl team. Look at how they fucked up the Rothlesberger. You have a rookie quarterback who rips up the league, then you lose his favorite target (Burress), piss of his other target by not signing him long term and forcing him to hold out(ward), and have a coach continually butting heads with him beacuse of him riding his Harley without a helmet. He's going to have the biggest sophmore collapse in history, and it will be really entertaining to watch. And all those 'yunzers' who laughed and pointed at me wearing Penguins gear reminding me of the lockout and how great the steelers are, are in for a big surprise. Enjoy going 4-12 mother fuckers!!! HA HA HA

SJ trading up and giving up so much to grab a player that they had a good shot at drafting in their spot (and was surely not worth what they gave up) was the biggest shocker for me.
As for Ryan over Pouliot, I would have taken Johnson or Ryan over Pouliot in a hearbeat. Burkes thinking, maybe he wanted the safer guy with comparable upside? Maybe he thought that Ryan was a better fit for his team. If I were to question why he didnt take someone it would be why didnt he take Jack Johnson who was clearly the number 2 IMO.
Im happy with the Draft the Oilers had, first time in years. Though if they had grabbed Latendresse in the second instead of Chorney Id of crapped my pants with happiness.
