This is more for Bryce as commissioner, however I'm kinda curious on what everyone else's thoughts are.
While it probably won't be a problem for BRHL the way players are rated currently, however I'm sure many of the GM's of this league are in other leagues where it could cause a problem with 'NHL only' players.
The concern is that of the revival of the World Hockey Association and the looming strike/lockout in the NHL in 2004-2005. Sure it is a year away, the WHA may never get off the ground and there may be no strike, however as it stands it's highly probable the WHA will succeed and there will be a strike. There aren't many leagues that will even think about this until the last minute. Just curious on other GM's thoughts for real life implications and for FHL implications.

Has been considered already by me, and by a few other commishs I have talked to, in case of an NHL strike, the BRHL would have a season, but their would be no mass rerates, I may let a team challenge 3-5 of their players attributes, but as a whole no rerates. Now with the WHA it brings a whole new monster into it. The way I am thinking is, if a player goes to WHA and plays while their is a lockout, he WOULD be rerated. Then the problem becomes how good the competition was, etc...... One thing I am unclear on is lets say they go on strike Sept 15, 2004 and it lasts 2 years theorhetically. is their a 2005 draft class? ? Bryce

In my league I intend to do the same. No rerates unless the player has some sort of criteria to go by. For example, Joni Pitkanen plays this year in Philly and does well. Then during the lockout he heads back to Finland and plays even better. Looking at his stats in comparison to previous seasons, I would rerate based on his FEL stats.(of course taking into account the competition).
Other players I would consider an inactivity deduction....(like -2 across the board) but am hoping I don't have to make these decisions.
