To qualify as a prospect you have to be 25 or under in BRHL years, here is a look at the top 15 prospects of the WILD!!!
[glow=red,2,300]#1 Ales Hemsky[/glow]
- Has a point per game for the Oilers so far this season, seeing top line minutes and showing his offensive flair. Hemsky is going to have a huge season for the Oil and he is clearlyt the gem of the group here.
Player Projection - Alexie Kovalev
#2 Jeff Jillson
- There is a reason me and Trev were so gung ho about him at the first draft, this guys offensive potential has a high limit and he could becoem one of the elite NHL offensive dmen in the future. High praise sure, but he has played well so far this year and has had some time on the PP with the #1 unit.
Player Projection - Derek Morris
#3 Mike Komisarek
- Already demoted back to Hamilton by the NHL Habs, the towering blueliner will no doubt be back in the bigs and is the type of shutdown guy every team needs. The Wild will be patient with his development.
Player Projection - Mattias Norstrom
#4 Raffi Torres
-Torres made the Oilers out of camp and after starting on the fourth line he has 4 points in 5 games and is on the top line with fellow Wild member Ales Hemsky. Torres plays a gritty smash and crach style, and he has soft hands.
Player Projection - Shane Doan
#5 Jeff Deslauriers
-One of teh surprises of Oilers camp 2 years running, Deslauriers is exceptionally quick, has a big frame and makes the impossible Hasek like saves, has been the best goalie at Oiler intersquad games two years running and has a good shot at starting for Canada at the WJC.
Player Projection - Tomas Vokoun
#6 Andrew Raycroft
-After seasons of seasoning in the AHL, it looked as Raycroft may be the starter in Boston until they signed Potvin, but the B's coach Mike Sullivan had enough faith in Raycroft to deal Shields to Florida leaving Raycroft as the backup. However in the early going it appears as Raycroft has upseated Potvin as the starter with superior numbers and a better record.
Player Projection - Dan Cloutier (hopefully not a choke artist though)
#7 Matthew Greene
- A giant dman who plays with a huge mean streak, he was team USA's best blueliner at the past WJC and figures to play prominantly in th next one, Greene could become an elite NHL defensive dman with a mean streak.
Player Projection - Kyle McLaren
#8 John Erskine
- A semi-regular in Dallas as they look to replace Hatchers toughness. Erskine is a mean one, but the talent level is thin, he could have a long career based on his strength & grit though.
Player Projection - Bryan Marchment
#9 Jonas Johansson
- Lit up the WHL when healthy, however his injuries are a concern. Has tons of talent and the Avalanche are very high on him, he could be the next great Swede in the NHL.
Player Projection - Daniel Alfredsson
#10 Doug Lynch
- A gritty tough blueliner who the Oilers see in their lineup within the next few years. A self proclaimed Jason Smith clone, he is the type of blueliner any team needs and has a solid NHL future.
Player Projection - Jason Smith
#11 Erik Christensen
-Didn't make the Penguins out of camp and elected to return to Kamloops instead of going to the Baby Pens. He believes he will develop more in teh WHL where he lead the league in scoring last season, a questionable career move. Can put the puck in the net though.
Player Projection - Jan Bulis
#12 John Pohl
- A speedster who was highly hyped as a draft pick, but has flown under the radar since. He lit up the AHL last year and hoped to win a job out of camp this season, he didn't have a strong training camp, and starts the year in the AHL, he could see NHL time though and his skill level will get him a look at sometime.
Player Projection - Rico Fata
#13 Martin Erat
- Still struggling to be a regular in the Predators lineup, however he has talent and could breakthrough down the road, at this point just a depth prospect for the organization. His ESPN picture looks eerily like a butch Kirsten Dunst.
Player Projection - Lasse Piretja
#14 Travis Roche
-Buried in the Wild's depth chart, an offensive dman who would be better suited on another squad that would overlook his defensive shortcomings, a depth prospect until he gets dealt and gets a chance at the NHL level.
Player Projection - Frantisek Kaberle
Andrei Mikhnov
- A big man at 6'5, his skating and conditioning leaves alot to be desired but because of his size, he will get a shot or two at the NHL.
Player Projection - Chad Kilger
Don't like my analysis, think my player projection is off? Lemme hear your feedback. With 4 1sts and 3 2nds this draft and 3 1sts next year we are stocking up for the future, go WILD!!!!!
