Detroit, MI. --------------
TRADE FRONT The Detroit Redwings, after losing three straight games, decided to shake up the roster somewhat. Friday afternoon Colorado GM Kelly Morrow fired their coach Bob Hartley feeling they too needed a shake up. However prior to Hartley's firing Redwings GM Hyack contacted GM Morrow and behind closed doors both GMs agreed that if Hartley were to immedietly sign with Detroit that Detroit would transfer the rights to their coach Craig MacTavish along with young center Toni Koivisto to the Avalanche.
Satisfied with having a more experience defensively aware coach GM Hyack also wanted to address the lack of forward offensive depth on the club. Tonight, a deal was struck with the Chicago Blackhawks which sees pending UFA Gary Roberts fly out to Detroit and feisty LW Brad May, whom has a 5yr contract, fly out to Chicago. Thus with the addition of Roberts, GM Hyack feels he can now dress three lines that have the ability to put the puck in the net.

I dunno, Ken...I'd be emailing the Suspension committee, that was quite a vicious cross-check to the chest and Friesen didn't even get a suspension for it...
