Posted this up for suggestion a while ago. Didn't get a wack of responses but nobody was against it so we are going to make it happen for Season 12.
In the past, a player had to have a contract below 1.5 million to be eligible to go to the farm.
In an effort to increase flexibility among teams and generate more activity, teams will now be allowed to place contracts greater than 1.5 million on the farm.
If a player with a contract worth more than 1.5 million is sent to the farm, that player will be paid their full contract. No 10% like players making less.
This needs to be set manually in the sim (the contract will have a 0 added to it) so, if you are sending a player down to the farm that fits the new rule, you MUST notify the commish to he can make the change. Failure to do so will result in the player being put back on your pro roster leading to potential cap implications.
You'll all be responsible for keeping a closer eye on your finances. If you are stashing players on the farm and still spending to the cap, you are going to start bleeding cash if your attendance isn't good so you need to be aware of this.
EDIT: In regards to the offseason, teams will have to set a 20 man roster at the beginning of the offseason. Players that fall in the new rule can be sent down at that time. That is the only time during the offseason they will be allowed to do so. They will be subject to waivers at that time as well.
EXCEPTION:
Newly signed UFA's with a contract greater than 1.5 million, will not be eligible to be sent to the farm.

Wow. Sounds like a commissioner's nightmare to try and manage. Glad it's you and not me.

Wow. Sounds like a commissioner's nightmare to try and manage. Glad it's you and not me. Shouldn't be.. I get a note whenever a player is sent to waivers in the sim. I also expect most of it to be done at the beginning of the season

Made a slight update to the rule in regards to the offseason. Originally I was going to say no to it being done during the offseason like the NHL but the NHL has no cap during the offseason so it's a bit different. I think doing it once when we set 20 man rosters before UFA is acceptable.
