-NO HEALTHY PLAYERS CAN BE PLACED ON THE IR.
-IR Requests must be emailed to the league address.
-There are 4 different lengths of time that a team can place a player on the IR. The player will remain on the IR for the whole duration of that time, at which point he may be activated, or replaced on the IR. The following is the breakdown.
i. 1 week (7 full sim days) = $300,000
ii. 2 weeks (14 full sim days) = $500,000
iii. 1 month (30 full sim days) = $800,000
iv. Season (Until the end of the playoffs)= $3,000,000
- In order to place someone on the IR it will count immediately against your current finances. You may not place someone on the IR if you are projected to be below zero in finances.
-You may not activate someone prior to them being done their tenure on the IR; for example: Al MacInnis gets a day-to-day injury. The Leafs being close to the cap decide to pay 300k so that MacInnis's salary does not count against the cap for the time he is on the IR, MacInnis makes a speedy recover and is able to play after only 2 sim days. However, he must remain on the IR for the full 7 sim days, and his salary does not count again until the 8th day, which is the first day he is eligible to be activated.
-You also may have to either reassign a player to the IR or let his salary count as he sits as an injured player; for example: Ryan Smyth of Toronto gets a 1-2 week injury. The Leafs are close to the cap and have enough in current finances and are projected to be above a zero balance at the end of the season. The pay 300k to assign Ryan to the 1 week IR, after the week, Smyth has progressed slowly and has at least a week left before he gets healthy, Toronto decides that they need to a) reassign him for a week, two weeks whatever, or b) let him sit with his injury while counting against the cap.
