Sorry my bad. Thanks for catching that. I've corrected the bid
2 years @2.0M per season 2M SB Total yearly value = 3M

That doesn't work...most you can offer on a 2 year at 2.0 is 2...so $3.0 mil is the number... next bid must meet or exceed 3,200,000 total... EDIT: No problem, now just stop outbidding me!!!

I'm going to re-bid for Phoenix here so it doesn't get voided as I suggested to him to correct it.
PHOENIX offers $2,000,000/ 2yr + 2,000,000 SB
$3,000,000
Time stamp is the same as the one two posts previous on the Phoenix post....

Is this an established league rule? The email sent from the league office yesterday outlining the rules for Free agency did not state that editing of a post would make a GM ineligible. There is nothing posted in the UFA board explaining this rule. The post made yesterday warns GMs against it but does not state there is a penalty. There is nothing in the rules page explaining this as well. If this rule is an established rule it should be stated clearly in that email or rules page or somewhere on this UFA board. If it was established some buried in the message board or in a chat shouldn't it have been restated in that league email or posted atop the UFA page. Maybe I missed an email or am not seeing the post that clearly establishes this rule. If so I apologize.

Well honestly...that kind of fucks me. I can't afford this guy with the offers I have out. The dealio is... there was an error in Mike's post. I alerted him to a mathematical mistake and he unfortunately made the double jeopardy of editing his post rather than posting a new one, and so here we are.
This is truly a question of holding to the "spirit" of the rule vs. the "letter" of the rule and for my own part I've moved on to other players...so I hope the notion of the "spirit of the rule" rules the day here and it doesn't rear back to bite us *both* in the ass because that would be a bigger crime IMO...
Ken, could you sound in here?...

Ken, could you sound in here?... Well, obviously I'm not Ken...but I don't think it should affect you. You never edited a post with an offer you made did you? I can't see it (but perhaps you did) so I wouldn't think it should affect you. Anyways, I'm sure Ken will let you know.

It would affect NYI in that their bid would again be leading even though they have moved on. I have already ruled in certain circumstances involving Philadelphia and Boston when they editted wording in their posts. I trust all of you. I highly doubt any of you would edit or delete your offers to suit your needs when bidding on other players. But it is that one GM who we wouldn't expect that may do it that I need to make a rule like the one we have. Im sorry Mike L. I have no choice. I trust Chris (Bos) and Trev (Phi) would not make any edits but I ruled the exact way in their circumstances and I have to here.

It's not in the rules...but it is in the "rules". This message board thing is a new thing for the league and so the rules have not been made solid on the page, but the generalized "rules" have been made clear. ie. No changing of posts. What I'm suggesting here is that there needs to be some hair splitting in this particular case...

So if I make an exception here Chris and Trev will be even more pissed than before. And if I don't, not only are they still pissed but now both you and Mike Lewis too. And add on James for his snafu, Rob (Timonen), Jordan,.... I'm damned if I do damned if I don't. I tell you one thing, we are not doing this next year. It went smoothly in the CNGHL but not here.

OK then. your ruling stands. I think I'm OK capwise... CURRENT BID is $1,850,000 + 1,800,000 SB
2,750,000for the goddamn Isles... End time is 11:52am whatever time Monday... Seriously Ken, I've tried to be a good and fair player here so I hope this won't haunt me...

I may consider waiving the punishment for trading a recently signed UFA if you deal him to Phoenix after FA.

Or, we could just reset the bidding on Wallin altogether.

|
Post by mleducislander on Aug 10, 2008 23:36:00 GMT -5
Alright...that sounds fair. If this bid holds, and you are willing to waive the FA trade penalty I'll guarantee Phoenix gets Wallin someway, somehow after this is through...
I hope that idea works out for you, Mike.

I want to say that I support Ken 100% in every decision he has made. Why? Nobody should have to be watch-dogged but since some GMs cant look after their own offers other GM's have had to make sure everyone is following the law.
Honestly who cares if it was not made final, if it makes sense (3 years for RFA aged UFA's and not editting posts) why not just do it?. This is a new process and I think it has potential, new rules will come out of this, but I have been very frustrated with this UFA process, not because of the way that Jordan or Ken have handled it but because of all the babysitting GM's have needed.

All right...so this thread is finished?
NYI sign Wallin @ 1,850,000 / 2 + 1,800,000 SB ?
...and my trading penalty is waived, Ken?
