All of Canadas gifted athletes end up playing hockey.... some end up in Baseball and Basketball too . Don't waste their time with minimal reward athletics!

My cousin, Jeane Lassen, finished 8th in her class for womens weightlifting last night.. She was considered a decent shot at a medal but missed on her snatch lifts (gotta love weightlifting terms).

Having just finished second in my league championships for summer hockey (after blowing a 2-1 lead in the 3rd) I can now feel for Silver and 4th place finishers more. Somehow second place doesnt feel like an accomplishment. Damn I was pissed after the game

On a completely unrelated note: Bill Clement is doing play-by-play for womens doubles table tennis right now.

How about 3 medals? It's about time, but satisfying nonetheless!

the british coverage is reporting that phelps eats about 10-12,000 calories a day... isn't that a normal day's meal for the typical american though?

Do you smell what Michael Phelps is cookin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dam I'm glad to be American. Eat it up Canada (America's hat) Well Im glad Im not American so as long as we are both happy that is all that matters. I find it funny any time any American gloats about American dominance in sport. Americans SHOULD be the most dominant country in sport. The only two countries with large amounts of per capita wealth and a population of 150 million or more are Japan and the US and the US doubles that figure and the Japanese have an obvious physical disadvantage to overcome. Realistically with 10 times the population the US should win 10 times as many medals as Canada too and 60 times what Finland does and 30 times what Sweden does and 15 times what Australia does. With 15 times the population of Australia this tells me that the Australians with about half the medals are far better at developing world class athletes than the US. I dont know, from my point of view any Olympics where the US does not win the medal count should be considered a loss overall.
