Came out of no where as many of you know..

What do you guys think here?
Personally, I think this is a bit of a backstab move by the ownership... I think Nonis would have given in and made an overpayment (to keep his job) for a premier player if he was pressured to.
And no, I don't believe an offer was made to the Lightning for Richards that included Edler, Kesler and Schneider... look at what the Lightning got in return. I don't think you need to be a hockey guru to notice the Vancouver package is MUCH better....Any GM would have taken that package over "current needs"
(You can't tell me that Mike Smith is worth THAT much... NHL ready goalie? You have had MULTIPLE cracks at legit goalies for next to nothing (Biron, Brzygalov) and you base your foundation of your trade on a goalie? Mike Smith of all that was available? YIKES!)
This was his off-season to shine. Tons of cap room, LEGIT prospects challenging for roster spots along with a VERY deep defense and a mutant goaltender.
Dave Nonis was committed to building a long term winner in Vancouver... and was well on his way to doing so. If the Canucks defense hadn't been so banged up all year, they would have made the playoffs.. even if it was the 8th spot.
With reports that this Brunnstrom deal was very close, it's also the WORST time for a firing. Sure, this isn't a big name by any means, but it's a low risk/ high reward move that nearly every team was wanting to make. It has put that signing into question... Personally I think it still has a chance since so many Swedes play here, and I think Tambellini had a hand in this (and is the most likely to be the Nucks next GM imo).
I believe the owner made this firing based on emotions and didn't consider it rationally. This is a big time business man, he should know you can't make significant moves based on emotion.. if you do it can bite you in the ass...
Hats of to Dave Nonis for re-stocking the Canucks prospect cupboard, building a deep defense and acquiring a mutant goaltender. You have left our next GM with a lot to work with.
