Moderately dissapointed, but not let down. An OK game, its more realistic. But they did take out some features that I've been a fan of in past years (Fantasy Draft Franchises, Defensive Coverage Assignments). Also, I didn't like the fact that when I did a superstar mode (as a Ronnie Brown type RB), got drafted by Denver, they had HOF'er Sammy Baugh as their starting QB. That is not realistic, at all.
Graphically, it looks sweet on a 360. Animations are alright, nothing spectacular. But once you've played a game, you've seen just about every animation. Sound is OK, not really synched up as well as it should be. The Radio announcer gets repetitive already, but atleast I'm not hearing "Boom, what a tackle!" after I score a rushing TD.
Don't have XBOX Live for my 360, only my XBOX. So I don't know what it's like.
The best part of the game is the running. Running the ball with a Shawn Alexander or Corey Dillion gives you a great understanding of what it's like to be down on the feild. Passing is improved, and it feels more realistic than ever. It's difficult, but only in the sense that you won't be leaping 5 feet in the air making 1 handed grabs. It's a true form of hitting the receiver in motion, and making sure you lead him on the right path to the end zone.
Defensively, the hit stick has been tweaked to be more realistic so that you aren't diving all over the place when you touch it. But instead lean towards your mark, and enforcing a little more umph to your tackle. Defending the pass is how you will win or lose in Madden 07. It's not as easy as it has been in earlier versions, so practice is needed before you start breaking up 3rd and long bombs to prevent a first down.
Overall, a fun game, but by no means what EA promised. I don't feel let down, though. Probably because it's a great 2 player game, and the superstar mode looks like it will keep me busier than the franchise mode.
8.2/10
