ok, just thought Id start something new. Basically one guy just names an artist and somebody else responds by stating what song in in their opinion their best and then names a new band/artist.
I'll start off with [glow=red,2,300]Pink Floyd[/glow]

I think Metallica is fairly easy: Pick one from each album: Creeping Death - Kill'em All Fade to Black - RTL Master of Puppets - MOP One - AJFA Sad But True - BLACK 2x4 or King Nothing - LOAD Fuel - RELOAD Turn The Page - GARAGE INC For Whom The Bell Tolls - S&M St. Anger - STANGER

I wouldn't miss either. Both were fun but have been slowly dying since the late 80s / early 90s.

Reggae, Blues, Classic Rock (ok), Modern Rock (horrible), foreign, Ska, Punk, Alternative... I'm sure you can break things down...

Pearl Jam: Jeremy or Daughter Tool: Ænima A Perfect Circle: The Hollow (Mer de Noms); The Nurse Who Loved Me (Thirteenth Step); Passive and People are People (eMotive) People Are People is hard to pick since it was originally done by Depeche Mode, but APC's remix was very classy.
And for the record, Tool is not by any means a metal band.
I'll stick on the "former friends of Trent Reznor kick" and say Filter next.
Note: Speaking of Depeche Mode is one of my favorite all time artists, and by coincedence, they will be in Dublin at the same time I am there...and I am very close to having tickets to an already sold out show. Whoo!

Since no one answered in almost a day. Filter: Hey Man Nice Shot (it's probably the only one of theirs I like)
I would stick with the theme of Reznor proteges, but I doubt the likelihood of a Manson fan in here.
So we'll go with Faith No More

Faith No More (aka One Hit Wonder) Epic
New Artist: Britney Spears (just to appease Norm)

My turn to chime in; in reverse chronological order no less.
Britney Spears: the songs are irrelivant, you have to judge by the videos. Can't go wrong with the school girl outfit/jail bait thing she started out with.
Faith No More: did they have any other songs than Epic?
Metallica: They were the greatest band in the world...when I was 14. Get out of high school, guys.
Queen: B.R. is cliche a bit. One Vision, Under Pressure, crazy little thing called love were all as good
Pumpkins: Rat in a cage
Guns and Roses: Overrated, but Welcome to the jungle was great for it's time. Anything to help kill of Poison can't be all that bad.
Clapton: Im not a big fan, but I have started to listen to Cream. Crossroads has to be his best
Pink Floyd: The wall and Dark Side are too common for a music snob like me to list. I have over 20 pink floyd cd's. Wish you were here is my favorite Floyd song (I nearly blew out my car speakers playing it) and "One of these days Im going to cut you into little pieces" is great too.
The following bands suck ass and nothing else has to be said about them: Tool, A Perfect Circle, HIM, Incubus, NIN.
Next Topic: David Bowie
