Another main member of the WIld on the move, this time Hossa going to Atlanta.
I think this has nothing but great implications for Hossa, the Thrashers play an offensive game, and he will be the main focus of the Thrashers with Kovalchuk. Kind of a big fish small pond theory, where in Ottawa he was a big fish in a big pond.
Waddell has said he will see more ice time in Atlanta than he would have in Ottawa, and you have to think that Hartleys offensive style should enhance Hossa's numbers.
I am hoping for a 50 goal 50 assist type season out of Hossa, and I think it is more likely he will achieve that in Atlanta than he would have in Ottawa, so I'm happy with the deal.

The sens are also happy with this deal...I think given the atmosphere and constant reminders of the tragedy Dany was involved in were getting to him...no matter how strong he is character wise...I look for Dany to rebound to the form he had before the accident. 45-50 goals with close to 100 pts. He is a stud and will return to this form. jh sens

I'm pleased with the deal as well. I plan on keeping DeVries with the Oil even though he is UFA after the season. I figure he will get key minutes especially in PK situations given the fact that even with Atlanta's bolstered defence, there still are holes there.
This is a definite win for Atlanta. Heatley, sadly, I don't feel will return to form. After watching the entire season play out (he was at times completely absent playing in Europe), it's hard to say whether or not it was a one time shot and that his eye injury set him back further. Hossa is a definite guy...but it's hard to say whether or not that he can coexist with Kovalchuk. Still, even if they have to play on seperate lines to get the team to work, Hossa's good for a point a game. I can't however say the same about Heatley. At least he's still young at 24, and will likely be given many opportunities to become a prime time player again.
