I watch the odd playoff game now and then, but with the Leafs out there really isn't anything to get excited about. I don't care about the sport of hockey enough to give a shit who wins between the Avs and the Wild. As long as Ottawa and Montreal suffer swift, embarassing first round losses, I'll be happy.

Everyone has their down spell...
Just be glad it didn't consist of a team with Rico Fata, Kent Manderville, Jef Thoms and Hans Jonsson..

Well considering that team eventually lead to Crosby, Malkin, Whitney, Fleury, and Staal, I would gladly take that downspell over other teams. When you dont have high draft picks to get those studs and you dont have the marquee talent to attract FA's (although that is not a problem in TO) or to make trades for stud players it is easy to get stuck in mediocracy.
This current TO team is stuck there. The Oilers have been there for a long time save for one run and only now after about 13 years (since about 94-95) of just making/just missing the playoffs appear to finally have a roster that looks like it can move beyond that. Not coincidently the guy who looks like he will lead the team out of it was drafted in the teams worst showing in those 13 years.
Montreal and Buffalo were there for a long time too, Phoenix seems stuck there as well.

Exactly. The Leafs problem has been that their management hasn't been smart enough to build a bonafide Cup contender since the Gilmour/Clark/Andreychuk days. They also haven't been smart enough to suck so badly that they get a top draft pick. So here are we Leafs fans, stuck every year just in or just out of the playoffs and never improving.
Quite frankly, I'd love nothing more than to have the Leafs ice a top line next year of Pohl-Battaglia-Ondrus because it means we might actually get a shot at Tavares or something.
Also, Rico Fata: proving once and for all that just because you can skate really really fast, it doesn't mean that you are a real hockey player.

Unless there is some major upheaval in the Toronto locker room I expect another plodding year in the 5-10 overall range for dps. Toskala is too good to get them into a prime draft pick position. Oh well as Hedman or Tavares would look good in Blue and white.

Actually, you'd be referring to another former Penguin - Konstantin Koltsov. Speaking of which Euro's, I wonder which of my players will move to Europe to continue my streak to 3 years in a row of losing a decent player to Europe. Any thoughts?

Nobody had more than 5 correct guesses in round 1.
Habis in 6 Pens in 6
Wings in 7 Sharks in 6
I dont see an upset in this round, but the Avs are really gonna push the wings and have the best change IMO

Although for the sake of the Penguins, I'm hoping for Penguins vs. Stars for the home ice advantage.

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASEEEE
The saving grace to this final is that the two best teams in the playoffs are facing off against each other. Which, bottom line, will make for some great hockey.
