List some of the Players you expect to be traded. Where to, and for What? Also, if you want to include some teams in general and predict what they might do (minus going for the HR and trying to guess the actual players).
Time to see how ridiculous our predictions can get.

--PLAYERS--
First off: Olli Jokinen, won't get dealt. Unless it is a gross overpayment.
Sabres will also bite the bullet and keep Campbell.
I also don't get the feeling that Alex Tanguay will move, unless there is a need for a roster shake up. In that case, I could see Ottawa getting involved.
I also don't see the high salary guys (Glen Murray, Jagr, Sundin) moving unless it's a deal that really makes sense. So, in other words, it won't happen.
Ladislav Nagy to Dallas for a 2nd or Loui Eriksson
Darcy Tucker to San Jose
Dwayne Roloson to San Jose for a 5th or some sort of conditional pick.
Rob Blake to Montreal, Atlanta or maybe even Washington.
Vaclav Prospal to Vancouver.
--TEAMS--
Minnesota Wild: Could be in the mix for Roloson, or some other backup to sure up a duo for a run. As well as they might look to even out a 3rd - 4th line player who is a proven playoff performer.
Tampa Bay Lightning: Will be very interesting to see if anyone takes a run at the big 3. I'd expect Vinny is off-limits. And the contract of Richards would be tough to swallow. But it could happen.
Pittsburgh Penguins: I doubt a big move, despite the cap room. I think if they came across some UFA-to-be 2nd tier scoring available (Satan, Nagy) for a reasonable price. Then a move could make sense. But they won't jeopardize their core future for any moves.
Overall, I see a lot of the borderline teams staying relatively quiet. Unless the moves made by other teams puts them in a tougher position to win with their current roster.
I'm sure I'll think of more, but that's all I can think of now.
If I get 1-2 right, it's a miracle.

I'll throw out a few:
Mats Sundin and Nik Antropov go to Vancouver or Anaheim. In return the Leafs will get a 1st rounder and two very good prospects (i.e. Bobby Ryan +Mark Mitera or Luc Bourdon + Michael Grabner)...
Darcy Tucker goes to Detroit. Leafs get Jiri Hudler and Brendan Smith.
McCabe goes to Chicago. Leafs get Dave Bolland and a 2nd round pick.
Dan Boyle goes to New York Rangers. In return the Rangers will take Bobby Sanguinetti and a 3rd round pick.

Hossa to DET for a kid like Hudler or Filppula and 1st or prospect
Tanguay ends up in MTL possibly for Ryder and a pick
Jokinen does get traded don't know where though
If Rob Blake does get moved it is to Ana or SJ
Liles ends up in NYR for Sanguinette (sp?)
Ottawa gets a veteran Dman like Foote or Norstrom for a 1st or 2nd
Vancouver picks up a 2nd tier top 6 forward like Satan, Gionta, Ryder, Prospal for a defenseman Bourdon or Salo depending on the team

Jokinen will be dealt and for much less than you think. My bet for Marleau and prospect.. more realisticly some over-the-hill veteran (salary dump) and bunch of prospects

Montreal: - Does not get Hossa (Too expensive) - Does not get Tanguay (Not enough improvement) - Might get Sundin (Rental, so cheaper) - Might get a #3/4 defenseman (They are a litte thin on the 2nd pair) - Might get Jokinen or Marleau, or someone similar but probably not
Any deal for a forward will involve Ryder + picks/young players/prospects
Any deal for a defenseman will involve O'Byrne
Good chance they'll waive/dump: Smolinski, Dandenault, Brisebois
Most likely scenario: Montreal does nothing except dump the above mentioned bums.

Is this like most contests, employees can't play? I guess I do have some knowledge that would certainly give me an edge.......... Hmmm... in that case, anyone taking bets?

If Sundin gets traded to the Habs and wins a Cup, I just might have to blow my own brains out with despair.

Toronto trades everyone and gets 5 high end russian prospects. None will ever report to the NHL Sundin traded to the hated Ottawa Senators ! Luggage shows up. Sundin ends up in Afghanistan ! Fletcher is reborn and finds knitting more challenging ! Richard Peddie seen digging ditches for forums in Tannebaums construction company on Sundays with Jason Blake

I know people in TV and media Sports coverage hear A LOT more that what gets publicized. So, if you're allowed, feel free. Jokinen won't get dealt. His contract runs through 2010-11? Plus his team is a quality FA away from contending in that SouthEast. If the Panthers trade Jokinen, and don't get an upgrade (which is nearly impossible), then they might as well trade Vokoun too.

Why not:
To Tampa Bay: Jeff Carter, Antero Niitymaki To Philadelphia: Brad Richards
To Los Angeles: Andrew Raycroft To Toronto: 4th 2008
To Vancouver: Trent Hunter, Radek Martinek To NYI: Matt Cooke, Luc Bourdon, 6th 2008

Vancouver picks up a 2nd tier top 6 forward like Satan, Gionta, Ryder, Prospal for a defenseman Bourdon or Salo depending on the team Salo has a no trade deal as does Ohlund. I can see them moving Bourdon but not Edler or Kesler. Schneider could be in play as well.

Steve There is a reliable, hah i know, Montreal reporter that is saying the Habs have ordered equipment for him. It doesn't mean it goes through but thats its close for Hossa. Apparently they did the same thing when Aucoin was almost a Hab before he got injures (Khabibulin was coming too.. they had ordered pads for him)

Some things I did, and didn't know about some of the process it takes to go through finalizing a deal. Stolen from ( www.tsn.ca/nhl/trade_deadline/ ) TradeCentre Q & A How is a trade officially made? After two clubs have come to an agreement on a trade, the clubs must advise the league office, either by telephone or by FAX, of the terms of the trade. The league office then schedules a conference call with the two teams to review the transaction and give final approval for the deal. Prior to the trade call, the league office will ensure that the team has the appropriate salary cap space to make the deal; if draft choices are involved, that the club has the available choices; and that the team has available space on its reserve list to add the player(s). It should be noted that the 23-man roster restriction is no longer in force from Feb. 26 on. On the trade call, the league will a) review the terms of the player contracts and ensure that teams are aware of their respective obligations to the player (s) involved; b) ensure that, should a player have a no-trade clause, that the player has waived that right; and c) ensure that any conditions to consummation of the transaction have been clearly defined and agreed upon. The trade becomes official after the trade call has taken place. What if a player involved in a transaction has a "no-trade" clause?No-trade clauses can vary from player to player. For example, a player may have a list of teams that he has agreed to be traded to. The league requires written documentation from the player that he has waived his no-trade clause. If applicable, the documentation must also stipulate which teams the player has agreed it is permissible for him to be traded to. Can a trade take place after the 3pm et/Noon pt deadline on Febr. 26?Trade calls may take place after the 3pm et/Noon pt deadline but the league must have been advised of any and all transactions, including the specific details, prior to 3pm et/Noon pt. It is not unusual that a number of trades are agreed to between the clubs just before 3pm et/Noon pt. However, due to the volume of trades occurring just prior to the deadline, the league may not be able to conduct the actual trade call until after 3pm et/Noon pt. There are five league officials that conduct trade calls and calls may last anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes depending on the complexity of the deal. How is a player's salary charged against a team's salary cap?The salary that is charged against a team's cap is the pro rated amount remaining of the player's average yearly salary. For example, if a player has an average yearly salary of $2 million, the amount charged against the acquiring team's cap is the pro-rated amount remaining of $2 million. This is calculated by dividing $2 million by the number of days in the season (187). The amount ($10,695) is then multiplied by the number of days remaining in the season from the day the trade is made (41 days if trade is on deadline day) to ascertain the amount charged against the team's cap ($438,502). - Info provided by the National Hockey League
